Welcome to York Hospital Club! We are a private members’ club and function rooms for hire located in York. Our club offers a variety of events for both members and the general public. We also offer private function rooms for hire, suitable for any occasion, from weddings to children’s birthday parties. With our rich history and commitment to providing a welcoming and friendl yatmosphere, we invite you to join us at York Hospital Club for an experience you won’t forget.
Our History
The club was originally built in 1959 as a recreational area for hospital staff, with tennis courts. It was formerly known as the Nurses City Recreational Hall. The membership system was created by hospital staff who then took over the overall running and maintenance of the building. In November 1973, they applied for an extension of the hall, and with this approval and membership, the York Hospital Sports and Social Club was born.
Our Facilities
Our members are employees of York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals, and we also offer Affiliate membership to anyone who is interested. Our club has a private bar, TVs, and a pool table for our members to enjoy.
At York Hospital Club, we offer much more than just a private members’ club. Our facilities are also available for function room hire in York for a variety of events. Whether you’re planning a wedding reception, a birthday party, or any other social gathering, our function room is the perfect choice.
Our Club
Our club is well-presented and highly maintained, with comfortable seating throughout and up-to- date facilities to ensure an enjoyable experience for all. We have a large-screen TV installed that is perfect for watching sports events or other programmes with friends and family. Our pool table is available for members to enjoy a game with friends or colleagues.
Our Events
We host a range of events for our members and the public, including Line Dancing, various Music nights, and a community church programme on Sunday mornings.

Our opening times are as follows:
- Monday: 6 pm – 11 pm
- Tuesday: closed
- Wednesday: 6 pm – 11 pm
- Thursday: closed
- Friday: 6 pm – 12 am
- Saturday: 1 pm – 12 am
- Sunday: 1 pm – 7 pm
